The technician should be able to identify and understand the role of the following components of a GC:

• Gas supply system (types of gases, purity, flow measurement)
• Injection system and methods (split versus splitless, on-column, temperature considerations)
• Column (see compentency 08 or 10)
• Oven (isothermal or programmed temperature)
• Detectors (see compentency 05)
• Amplifier and Data Systems
