Specific Text Resources

Analytical Chemistry (5th Edition), by Gary D. Christian, John Wiley & Sons, NY, ISBN: 0-471-59761-9, 1994

General information from the publisher's web page:

Extensively revised and updated, this edition is concerned primarily with quantitative analysis techniques. Describes how to design an analytical method, how to obtain a laboratory sample that is representative of the whole and to prepare it for analysis, what measurement tools are available, automated analyses and the statistical significance of the analysis. New and expanded topics include heterogeneous equilibria, diode array spectrometers, fiber-optic sensors and solid-phase extraction.

Specific comments: While this textbook is rather dated, it should be considered a valuable reference since the author, Gary Christian, is a noted expert in atomic absorption spectroscopy, particularly clinical applications of AA. He has written a textbook on atomic absorption as well as an ACS audio course. Good coverage of most AA topics, including cold-vapor mercury determination.
